Surah An Noor Ayat 22 Tafseer

Para 18 - قَدْ اَفْلَحَ

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

24.22

وَ لَا یَاْتَلِ اُولُوا الْفَضْلِ مِنْكُمْ وَ السَّعَةِ اَنْ یُّؤْتُوْۤا اُولِی الْقُرْبٰى وَ الْمَسٰكِیْنَ وَ الْمُهٰجِرِیْنَ فِیْ سَبِیْلِ اللّٰهِ ﳚ-وَ لْیَعْفُوْا وَ لْیَصْفَحُوْاؕ-اَلَا تُحِبُّوْنَ اَنْ یَّغْفِرَ اللّٰهُ لَكُمْؕ-وَ اللّٰهُ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِیْمٌ(22)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

English translation of Kanz-ul-Imaan

And those amongst you who possess excellence and have capacity should not take oath (in not) giving to the relatives, and the needy, and the emigrants in the path of Allah. And they should forgive and overlook, do you not like that Allah may forgive you? And Allah is Most Forgiving, Ever Merciful.

Commentary

Sayyiduna Abū Bakr رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ would provide financial aid to Mistah رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ, his maternal aunt’s son. When he confirmed his involvement in the accusation against the noble ʿĀʾishah رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهَا, Abū Bakr رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ took an oath that he would no longer provide financial aid to Mistah. Consequently, this verse was revealed. When the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم recited this verse, Abū Bakr رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ said, “Certainly, it is my wish that Allah forgives me”, thus, he once again began to provide maintenance to Mistah. This is the highest level of utmost truthfulness (siddīqiyyah).
